Malevolence

We each start naive.

Failing to see the brutality of the world, we remain ignorant of our own circumstances.

But things change.

One way or another, our naivete is shattered.

We learn that the world is complex, that things are uncertain, that we can be hurt.

And in the process, we learn how to hurt others.

Nobody likes to think about malevolence, but it is undeniable.

We're all capable of terrible atrocities (especially those who think they aren't).

How to act, in light of this?
